An up and coming destination for wedding photo shoots, Bangkok is the perfect place for couples who want something a little out of the ordinary!
#1: The Giant Swing
Standing at 21.5m tall outside the Wat Suthat temple is the magnificent Giant Swing. Resembling the torii gates of Japan, the towering two red pillars and elaborately carved teakwood crossbar makes great background for dramatic wedding pictures.
#2: Hua Lamphong Train Station
It is not uncommon to see both local and foreign couples having their wedding pictures taken here. Designed in the neo-renaissance style by an Italian architect, the train station boasts an elegant design with its huge stained glass windows and high ceilings. The boarding platform is also open to all, so remember to get a shot taken next to the classic trains beside the tracks!
For an oriental feel, don a Cheongsam and walk down the streets of Chinatown with your partner. While a busy street and large crowds may not seem to the most appealing, Chinatown’s neon signboards and bustling markets serve as good backdrop for those who prefer more casual street-style pictures. Work the surroundings in your favour to bring out the most unique and natural shots of you and your significant other.
#5: Charoen Krung Road
Charoen Krung Road, also known as the old Farang quarter where the first Europeans lived in Thailand, has a rustic colonial air about it. Here, you can see century-old buildings interspersed with the new. Be sure to take a few pictures outside the Assumption Church—a renaissance-inspired Catholic church adorned with Italian marble and French stained glass.
#6: Memorial Bridge
This bascule bridge was built in the 1930s, and overlooks the famous Chao Phraya river. With its wide pedestrian walkway and peaceful surroundings, this is a good place to capture those romantic moments without interruption. The vivid green steel structure also helps by adding a splash of colour and contrast in your photos.
