Universal Studios Japan (USJ)

0800: Take train to Universal City Station
From Osaka station, it takes about 15 minutes.

The park’s opening time varies between 0830 and 0900 hours, depending on the day. If you did not purchase a ticket online, be prepared to arrive at least an hour in advance to queue. The ticket and entry queues are separate.

Remember the butterflies in your tummy when you first fell in love?
No? Good. Let the many roller coasters of USJ remind you!

USJ has everything the other Universal Studios have, and more–most notably the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! The crowds can get pretty crazy (especially during peak seasons) and we strongly recommend the express pass for the more popular rides. To ensure the express queues are manageable, only a limited number of express passes are sold each day.

Universal Express® Pass 4 – Standard

  1. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in 4K3D
  2. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
  3. Backdraft OR Terminator 2: 3-D
  4. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man – The Ride 4K3D OR Jurassic Park

The looming trees at the entrance are already incredibly picturesque, but as you continue past the Tenryuji, it gets better! As the bamboo trees grow further apart from each other, they appear thicker and more dramatic. A perfect backdrop for a honeymoon photo!

Preserved in the Meiji Period style, the traditional machiya (townhouses) have been turned into cafes and shops. Do some shopping and snap some shots posing with the rustic buildings!

Either hang around and have dinner here, or head back to Kyoto for some city-seeing.

Before heading for a hearty meal, go up the 100m tall Kyoto Tower. Share a special moment as you marvel at the beautiful lights of the night-time cityscape.
